UNDERSTANDING ABSTRACTION with Alison Aplin

Get creative at Glyph Gallery and Creative Space in Port Fairy

We will explore how the concept, ‘abstract’ can be applied to realistic art. You will loosen your current painting style or develop a whole new approach. We will discuss different techniques related to tools and products used, while investigating mark-making and collage to add interest to artwork. Layering & depth will also be discussed. This will be an unstructured workshop allowing artists to practice techniques discussed. Alison’s sessions are lively and thought-provoking, encouraging thinking outside the box.

Alison Aplin is an experienced abstract artist having won numerous awards since 2008. She has had a number of solo exhibitions including in Melbourne (TACIT Art) and Adelaide; and others regional, plus exhibiting internationally. Abstract expressionism is Alison’s fortè using colour, depth, imperfection and energy to produce exciting and dramatic artwork. She has a Cert IV in Training & Assessment.

Realist artists wanting a looser style can benefit from this workshop.
