Leaving a gift in your Will
A Will gives you the power to choose how your life’s work and your assets will benefit your loved ones and the causes you care about most. If you have planned a gift in your will to Regional Arts Victoria, we encourage you to let us know about it. By advising us of your gift, we can ensure we appropriately acknowledge your support in your lifetime. You can choose how much or how little you prefer to be involved, at any stage, and your privacy will always be respected.
FAQs
A general gift in your Will enables RAV to direct your gift to wherever it is most needed at the time, providing the most flexible donation. We would encourage you to consider making such a gift.
If you would prefer that your gift be restricted to a particular area of RAV’s activities, we would welcome the opportunity to discuss your plans before you commit them to a Will, to ensure that we can honour your wishes.
Leaving a gift in your Will is often referred to as a bequest. There are two simple ways to include RAV in your Will:
- A ‘specific bequest’ directs a fixed dollar amount or assets or property
- A ‘residuary bequest’ directs all or a percentage of the remainder of your estate, after specific gifts to other beneficiaries have been fulfilled. No percentage amount is too small, and any amount can make a significant impact.
- If you don’t have a Will, then the first thing you should do is seek legal advice about creating one. The Public Trustee in your State or Territory can provide advice on making a Will and can help you find a solicitor.
When you have included a bequest to RAV in your Will, please let us know. You don’t have to tell us, but we would love the opportunity to thank you.
We strongly recommend you seek legal advice when making a Will or making changes to an existing Will to benefit RAV.
