Award-winning company Asking for Trouble has been creating collaboratively in schools and communities since 2008. Creating Collaboratively – Physical Storytelling is an ideal addition to any school curriculum, designed to inspire both students and teachers through a dynamic and creative approach.
 
With curiosity and confidence, artists Christy and Luke will guide students and teachers to explore their favourite collection of processes to devise their own original work. Asking for Trouble focus on finding ways to incorporate games and play into live theatre, making it accessible and FUN.
 
Students will move their bodies, laugh, connect with each other, and try new things.
 
In the Introduction to Physical Theatre workshops, students are introduced to new ideas, skills, concepts and perspectives as they are led through a series of fun physical activities. Christy and Luke will encourage students to take creative risks and push their boundaries, and then engage them in reflective exercises to help them learn from their experiences. This workshop can be tailored to explore a particular idea or theme as a way to develop original youth led material for an upcoming school performance.

This program is perfect for schools looking to enrich their curriculum with creative, collaborative, and physically engaging activities that not only enhance artistic skills but also promote personal growth, wellbeing and confidence.

Dive into Devising: Professional Development Workshops for Teachers

“Working with who you have and what you’ve got”

An exploration into a collection of Asking for Troubles favourite processes to create new physical works (in short time frames) with young people. AFT are interested in creating and directing theatre where they can lead participants through a clear and direct series of exercises to develop their own unique material. This leads to a sense of ownership of the work and participants who feel empowered and perform with presence. Teachers are led through several exercises sharing techniques for using the material to build meaning and a story. Suitable for teachers across all year levels.

Rapid Generation

Week-long residencies for regional students hungry to dive into performing, this can culminate in a performance or showing, theatre camp comes to you! 

Four full days with students across a week with one day midweek for AFT to work without students and consider how to pull all their fabulous ideas together into a cohesive performance. This option is ideal for schools where there is little opportunity for students to explore the performing arts locally but the ability to adjust a timetable to allow an intensive burst of experience! It also offers the opportunity to connect locally, previous schools have involved rehearsal showings for local kinder or younger primary classes as well as parents and wider school community where appropriate.

Other details

Space required: enough space for students to be able to stand/stretch their bodies simultaneously without touching each other. Gym, hall or multi-purpose room preferred.

Booking Details: Minimum 1 x 45 minute session. Asking for Trouble can work with the school timetable to accommodate half or full day workshops with same or different groups

Minimum Fee: $1,320 for full day or $850 for half day. On Call bookings may also incur additional travel costs.
