Info for Artists and Producers

You’re an artist or producer who is interested in touring with RAV, welcome!

Our Touring Services program supports producers and artists to tour their works to professionally managed venues throughout Victoria and across the nation.

Get started…

Shows are selected for our Touring program in two ways.

Performing Arts Centres

Performing Arts Centres touring is primarily programmed via  Showcase Victoria, a State-wide industry event co-produced by the Victorian Association of Performing Arts Centres and Regional Arts Victoria each year.
This is an annual arts marketplace which connects performers and venues, and the opportunity to submit your show for consideration opens in January each year Shows that are suitable for our Connecting Places network of small halls and community-run venues are selected from Showcase Victoria, and also programmed through our Connecting Places EOI process (link) applications open in April each year.

Connecting Places (Small Halls)

Shows that are suitable for our Connecting Places network of small halls and community-run venues are selected from Showcase Victoria, and also programmed through our Connecting Places EOI process. Applications open in April each year.

Touring is a great way to reach new audiences and Regional Arts Victoria can provide a full range of tour coordination services including:

  • Delivery of confirmed tours including all logistical and financial tasks.
  • Development of touring itineraries in partnership with Producers and Presenters.
  • Development of touring budgets and tour funding applications on behalf of the Producers and Presenters.

We provide tour coordination for artists across both Victorian and interstate venues.

This includes:

  • Developing tour itineraries
  • Negotiating fees on behalf of the artist
  • Coordinating the creation of appropriate marketing materials
  • Contracting and invoicing
  • Booking travel logistics
  • Final reporting on behalf of the artist.

Companies we work with are expected to manage the pre-production phase of the tour and are encouraged to develop close working relationships with the venues they tour to.

All of our tours are funded either through funding agencies such as Creative Victoria and Creative Australia, or directly via Presenter contribution.

We tour through our three programs:

  • Touring Services: working with producers and artists to tour their works to Performing Arts Centres around Victoria and across the nation.
  • Connecting Places: connecting with community presenters and touring work to halls across Victoria.
  • Creative Learning: educational arts experiences for children and young people across Victoria.

Across these three programs, Regional Arts Victoria tours performing arts, live music, theatre, circus, workshops and residency-based projects.

Step 1: Join our touring mailing list so you can keep updated of when the next Expression of Interest is open for Showcase (usually in January each year), or for our Connecting Places Expressions of Interest.

Please note: If you apply for Showcase, your show will also be considered for our Connecting Places program. You do not need to apply for both.

Step 2: Get prepared for your application:

Step 3: Submit an Expression of Interest by the deadline at Showcase Victoria.

Step 4: If successful, get prepared to pitch your show to an audience of venue programmers and industry delegates. For some companies, this could also include performing a short excerpt of your production live on stage at the event. If you are selected to tour with us, we will be in touch with your next steps!
