Writing an Exhibition Label

Labels provide details about the artwork being exhibited.

Your label should include:

  • The artist name at the top.
  • The artwork title.
  • The year work was created.
  • The medium/s used.
  • Dimensions (optional)
  • Artist statement describing the artwork, theme or additional details. (optional)

Displaying your label:

  • Have a consistent layout design for each label.
  • Generally, display at 1250mm height next to each artwork.
  • Consider size of font and final card for easy reading.

Tips:

  • Proofread all labels before printing.
  • Display on quality paper or print onto Foamcore.
